Since 1960, FLERA has been advancing local environmental programs throughout the state of Florida.

Our Mission

The mission of FLERA is to enhance communication, education and advocacy for Florida local environmental protection efforts.

Local governments have consistently been challenged with how to balance protecting our natural resources, encouraging and supporting economic development and providing a decent quality of life for residents. They are now faced with more external threats such as climate change and the pandemic. FLERA is a place where local environmental officials can turn to seeking solutions and support. With the strength of our membership, we are also uniquely positioned to advocate for state and federal assistance, and funding, to help address the myriad of local environmental issues facing Florida.
